Dear Frustrated Parents, Teachers,
and ADD/ADHD Sufferers:
If you have a child
who has been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, or if
you suffer from one of these disorders yourself,
and you are sick
and tired of trying to cope with the behavior
problems, lack of focus,
and overall emotional roller coaster ride caused
by these disorders,
then this might be the most important letter
you will ever read!
Even if your child
hasn't been officially diagnosed with ADD or ADHD,
but you think they show signs of having the disorder,
what you are
about to discover will help you to not only understand
this disorder
better, but also show you ways to cope with it
once and for all!
WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN TO ME?
Look, I know it's
hard to know who to trust these days, especially
when you're dealing with something like ADD/ADHD.
I want you to know that I understand how you feel.
I have 3 sons,
and one of them, my oldest, had attention problems
all through his elementary school years, and we
were always afraid of
taking him to a doctor, because we didn't want
him to be "labeled".
You know what I mean...
The last thing
any of us want is for our kids to be labeled as "slow",
"mentally challenged", or a "problem
child". Besides, we knew the
potential our son had, and we didn't want some
doctor "drugging him
up" with Ritalin, because we had heard of
all the horror stories about
side effects and such.
And it wasn't just
school where he was having problems. He had trouble
focusing in sports, as well. For the longest time,
I thought he just
had a bad attitude, and that he wasn't trying his
hardest. Now I know
that wasn't true. Through a lot of hard work, proper
medication, and
faith, he was able to finally excel at sports,
and show a good attitude
in the process.
Also, my son had
the hardest time following the simplest of
instructions. You know... we'd tell him to be back
in the house at
a certain time, but then we'd have to go looking
for him, because
he never showed up. Now he is very dependable,
and never gives us
anything to worry about.
So, in a nutshell,
I know EXACTLY what you've been going through if
you have a son or daughter who has symptoms of
ADD or ADHD. And if
you are an adult who has these symptoms, I'm sure
you can relate to
what I've described as well.
WHAT DOES
ALL OF THIS HAVE TO DO WITH YOU?
Because of
my desire to help my son through his ADHD, I
was determined to learn all I could about the
symptoms, treatments, medications (and
their side effects), and coping strategies concerning
ADD and ADHD.
